In the Shadows is a collection of previously published short stories and brand new tales from an emerging voice in genre fiction. The anthology includes fantasy, horror, science fiction, crime, mystery and an exclusive preview of the forthcoming fantasy novel, Footsteps.

Highlights include Dotted Line, featured in Nocturne Magazine - a dark tale about an author presented with an offer most would find hard to refuse; Arthur’s Tavern, presented in Legend Magazine - a contemporary fantasy short story that provides an alternative addition to the Arthurian legend; and The Taurutor, a brand new novella written especially for the anthology - an atmospheric fantasy adventure set in an African/Egyptian culture where one man refuses to succumb to the curse of the Predulack!

"Thought provoking writing with a malevolent undercurrent." - Paul Calvin Wilson, Nocturne Magazine

"Unbelievably talented ." - Jenny Barber, Editor, Here & Now Magazine

"Thorne has an engaging style that keeps you turning the pages. From unsettling tales of the supernatural to well-paced fantasy, this is a debut that signals a promising future." - James Barclay, Author of the Raven series and Cry of the Newborn

"Arthur's Tavern is a tale of ordinary folk encountering a fallen hero. Justin Thorne has intriguingly combined wry humour with a deep and abiding sense of loss. In this story the reader is taken behind the scenes of what is an enduring legend of chivalry, bravery and ultimate tragedy, and cleverly uses these same elements in a very domestic and therefore, accessible way." - Trevor Denyer, Editor, Legend Magazine

"It's been said over and over that all writers secretly wish they were rock stars. Justin Thorne has the somewhat maddening ability to be both. And like good music, his writing is arresting and fearless yet it never fails to charm." - Jonathan Miller, Editor in Chief, BeWhich Magazine

"You are a very, very bad man." - Matthew Woodring Stover, Author of Revenge of the Sith and The Acts of Caine
